Felix Ocanas - Professional Engineer
Felix Ocanas is a registered professional engineer who owns and operates his own home-based business. Felix has been awarded with the Home-based Business Champion of the Year Award for donating his time and efforts to strengthen the role of our local home-based business community. Felix received his Bachelor of Science in General Engineering from Texas A&I University Kingsville, and became a registered professional engineer in 1971. He accumulated a 32 year career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, serving throughout the world, including Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia. He retired from the Corps of Engineers in 1996, and became the Director of Public Works and the Engineer for Nueces County the following year. In 2000, Felix decided to start his own home-based business, and now provides engineering consulting and construction management services. In addition to running his business, Felix often helps his fellow home-based business owners by providing them assistance with business and financial planning. He is quite knowledgeable of the SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs, and assisting entrepreneurs with the SBA’s “New Markets” initiative is a priority for Felix. Felix’s contributions to the local business community have improved the quality of life for many home-based entrepreneurs in the region. Felix has shown the characteristics of a true entrepreneur, small business advocate, and community leader.
